Do We Need to Install Braille Exit Signs ?
The availability of exit signs in a building, especially public building, is very essential as it functions to guide people to get a way out whenever fire or earthquake happens. It is true that almost all the public buildings have provided the visitors with such exit signs. However, not many maybe have installed braille exit signs. These signs seem to be taken for granted. Why is it so.
Many of us have so far assume that exit signs are provided for normal people. While those who have disability in sight, for example, are assumed that they have their companion when being in a building. In fact, such an assumption is not really true. No matter how, we must allow people who are disable to get equal treatment and facility. Besides exit signs, we also need to really be serious with emergency lights we have in our building. This emergency lighting is to give signs or alertness to people whenever for caution. There are various sizes and shapes available. However, we better choose the ones that suit our need where the lights are installed.
Providing public buildings with facilities like exit signs or light to signalize emergency can not be recklessly done. Our ignorance to this matter may draw us to getting legal consequence. Hence, we need to evaluate such facilities we have installed and replace them with the reliable ones.
